Inde GasGas Aspar’s Jake Dixon was back at the sharp end as he topped Friday’s Moto2 practice in Thailand.
Harnessing experience of the Chang International Circuit from his rookie season in the world championship, Dixon was strong from the outset on Friday despite fluctuating conditions.
Waiting to utilise the dry 4.5km track, the British rider completed FP1 third in the standings before topping the times outright for the afternoon action. HIs 1’36.280 lap, set on 12th of 17 laps held off challenges from Alonzo Lopez and series leader Augusto Fernandez by two and three tenths of a second respectively.
“We’ve had two full dry sessions and from the minute we went dry, I felt fantastic on the bike,” a confident Dixon confirmed from the Buriram paddock. “The team have provided me, as always, a great bike but the last few races, probably three races, I’ve been off the pace a bit.
“I’ve not felt too great riding. This weekend, for some reason, I’ve just felt my flow again and I feel back to how I have been riding, so really enjoying it.
“I’ve got no expectations for the weekend. I’m just taking this session by session and see what we can do.”
