MotoGP Jerez test: Rossi calls for improved aero package

Monster Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi believes the works M1 would benefit from an improved aero package as it is suffering from wheelie problems where the Ducati and Honda aren’t.

Rossi had some new items at try at yesterday’s Jerez MotoGP test but they didn’t bring the sort of changes he was looking for. But he had to balance the anti-wheelie effect with the amount of drag as the M1 isn’t exactly a rocketship.

“For me, now we suffer with the Yamaha for the wheelie, because our wings - like Quartararo also used in the race - are quite old and the downforce is not a lot,” said The Doctor.

“Also during the race I stayed with the Ducati and Honda and we suffered about the wheelie, so we have to do something.

“We tried the new wings and they are not so bad, we can use in the next races. After that it’s difficult for the top speed, because already our top speed is not fantastic.”
