MotoGP Le Mans: Another nice video for the collection – Marquez

Reigning MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez brushed off another of his wonder saves as simply ‘another nice video for the collection’ after defying the laws of gravity in free practice at Le Mans.

The Spaniard produced another one his simply breath-taking saves when he ran his RC213V out wide on the curbs at Garage Vert. After seeing his team-mate do it and end up in the gravel 20 minutes earlier, the Spaniard looked destined to suffer the same fate. However, after losing the front end on the high curbs, Marquez managed to keep his bike upright on his elbow in typical Marquez fashion, summing it all up with a laugh.

“I made a big save in FP1,” he said.

“It was my second run and I was able to save it but it took me by surprise a little bit because it’s so bumpy. Another nice video for the collection!”

Despite the save, it was a quiet day for Marquez who ended the day second fastest, just under two-tenths off of Vinales’ fastest time of the day. Marquez said that the hard rear he was using couldn’t get warm enough quickly enough.

“In the afternoon I was using the hard rear tyre,” said Marquez. “It was good but as you don’t get the correct temperature, this first two, three laps were very difficult to get the temperature on the tyre. But if you don’t take a risk, then the temperature never arrives.

“I was trying to be aggressive and then this created some slides I did not expect, but always inside the limit.”
