MotoGP Misano #2: Engine issues thwart Dixon’s progress

Just four days since the first Misano MotoGP Jake Dixon once again got to grips with the seaside circuit in the first two Moto2 sessions of MotoGP Misano #2, which saw him finish Friday practice in 14th.

Unfortunately an engine-related part issue prevented Dixon from setting a time for the majority of morning practice. Eventually managing to head out in the closing quarter to complete nine laps, his best time of 1’38.009 placed him 28th at the end of FP1.

The afternoon proved more promising for the Brit who was able to better represent his form after 18 laps in FP2, setting a time of 1’36.581, promoting him to ninth in the session and 14th overall.

“Obviously FP1 wasn’t ideal and I didn’t feel good during the few laps I did manage to do in the session. FP2 was more like FP1 for us: we were ninth but I still didn’t feel that great on the bike," said Dixon.

“We’ve changed lot since last weekend to try and help me, but we need to sit down tonight and analyse the data. We have some work to do to make the pace more consistent.

“It was a bit of a difficult day, but that’s racing. We just have to keep working and hopefully be even faster tomorrow, I feel like we can do this. Of course my aim is to be in Q2, but also I want to be consistent because that’s important for during the race.”
