MotoGP Portimao: 'I didn't want to make a mistake' - Rogers

Britain's Fraser Rogers took a 20th place finish in his first ever Moto2 race at Portimao after ensuring he brought the NTS RW Racing machine home in one piece.

The Superstock star spent the MotoGP weekend getting comfortable on the bike and slowly cutting the gap to the leaders.

"For me it was so important to finish, I didn't want to make a mistake. When you then see that during the race I made my fastest lap times of the whole weekend in the sevnth and eighth laps, I am just happy," said Roger.

"For a while I was able to catch up with Hafizh, but when I almost lost the bike for a moment, I thought about my main target: to reach the finish. I thank the team for this weekend and I am very happy with this experience. If the team needs me next time then I will be there."

Team boss Jarno Janssen added: "For Fraser, competing in Moto2 was a big challenge anyway. It's not easy to come here into this Moto2 violence and I think he did a good job. If you then see that he didn't make any mistakes or do anything strange, we can all look back on this positively and Fraser can certainly take the experience from this weekend further in his career."
