The former World Champion was less than impressed with the conditions after being a lead proponent of the rejected proposal of getting the start time move forward an hour, he called tomorrows contest a “survival” race after seeing three other riders all crash at T2 during the two fifteen minute qualifying sessions.

“It’ll be a survival race for everyone. But especially for me because of my inexperience with the bike and my conditions,” said Lorenzo who will start tomorrows 22-lap race from fifteenth.

“Now it’s not only my wrist but especially this back problem. I also have the foot and fingers.

“I’m in pain everywhere. With these conditions, being so cold, it’s going to be totally survival race for everyone in general, but especially for me.”

With considerable pain in his back, the Spaniard suggested he will take it as it comes and see how he feels after sleeping and morning warm up.

“We’re going to go to sleep now and let’s see how I wake up tomorrow,” he said. “If I feel not so well, maybe I’ll need to do more checks.

“If I feel better I will go to the track and let’s see the race tomorrow.”
