Britain’s Sam Lowes bagged ten points for sixth place in today’s Moto2 season opener at the Qatar MotGP round and says it was job done so far as he is concerned.
The Federal Oils Kalex rider was involved in several scraps and this allowed the leaders to get away but Lowes was still able to lap at the same pace as winner Baldassarri at the end.
“I enjoyed it and we were recovering well at the end. It’s nice to be back in the fight. Of course, I wanted more but the main job at race one was to get some points on the board,” said Lowes.
“It was the first race of the year and as usual, everybody gives a little extra. That is why I lost touch with the front group due to some battles with other riders, and it’s a shame because I know in the last ten laps I had podium pace.
“But we can take this result as the highlight of the weekend and I’m sure there’s something to learn ahead of the next race in Argentina.
“I want to thank the team because they did an outstanding job. It was good to start on the right foot and score some important points.”
