EG0,0 Moto2 star Sam Lowes has been ruled out of any further action at this weekend’s Qatar MotoGP round.

The British rider performed above expectation yesterday after almost no winter test time, finishing 20th on the combined sheets and only 1.1s off the new lap record set by Joe Roberts.

“It was a decision by the team and the doctors and obviously I am disappointed,” said Lowes.

"Following the medical advice and in accordance with the Team, Sam will no longer participate in the QatarGP despite the good performance showed in yesterday's free practices," said a team statement.

"The rider will focus on his recovery to be fully prepared to face the next Grand Prix."
