MotoGP Sachsenring: Second row for Rins despite near crash

Factory Ecstar Suzuki MotoGP rider Alex Rins said he was content with his second row start, after saving a big crash on his final lap on his elbow at the Sachsenring.

Riding as part of a fast quartet at the end of qualifying, Rins was behind Marquez and ahead of Quartararo. With times tumbling, Rins was trying hard to go with Marquez, admitting he came close to losing the front end of his GSX-RR.

“I had a bit of a scary moment on the last corner of the last lap, I was setting a really quick time and I had to make a save with my elbow,” said the Spaniard.

Despite just missing out on the front row of the grid, Rins said he was happy with his fourth place start, revealing that was his target ahead of the session.

“But nevertheless, I’ve finished today on the second row and that’s within my target,” he said.

“Tomorrow I’ll try to get a good start, because I feel like I have strong pace.”
