SRT Petronas Yamaha MotoGP rider Franco Morbidelli said he feels great on his M1 after the Italian rounded out an all-Yamaha front row behind team-mate Fabio Quartararo and Maverick Vinales in Sepang.
The Italian topped both FP3 and FP4 heading into qualifying and despite not having the single lap pace of his team-mate, the Italian appeared quietly confident about his chances of securing his first MotoGP podium.
“Strangely we struggled a bit on Sunday in Phillip Island, so I was having many things in my mind after that. But then we started this weekend straight away with another pace compared to Phillip Island, I think where I finished in Japan, so this is a positive thing,” explained the Italian.
“I feel great on the bike this weekend, I feel strong and we will have to see what I can do tomorrow.
“I’m a guy who likes to take it step-by-step and consolidate every step I do.
“But in MotoGP it’s quite tricky and difficult, so I am trying to improve every time I go on track, with our team we are working very well together, so we will manage to do that. Of course, the steps are not too fast, but they are there and this is the most important thing.”
