Marc VDS rider Alex Marquez put himself in the perfect position to wrap up the Moto2 World Championship as he will be starting from pole position at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
With the threat of rain looming, the Spaniard and the rest of the Moto2 field were out quickly in a bid to beat the rain and get a hot lap in before the clouds burst. Tucking in behind title rival Tom Luthi, Marquez quickly found himself on a flying lap and took the top spot early on.
Despite a flurry of some fast laps by Brad Binder, the South African, nor anyone else for that matter, was able to find a lap capable of beating Marquez. Tetusta Nagashima will start from the middle of the front row in second, with Brad Binder rounding out the front row in third place.
Xavi Vierge will lead off the second row in fourth place, with Luthi in sixth and impressive rookie Jorge Martin finding his feet rounding out the second row in sixth place. Sam Lowes will start from seventh with Marcel Schrotter and Remy Gardener joining the Brit on the third row in eighth and ninth respectively.
Luca Marini will start from tenth place on his Sky Racing VR46 Kalex, with compatriot Fabio Di Giannantonio in eleventh and MotoGP bound Iker Lecuona rounding out the top twelve in twelfth place.
