Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro has been diagnosed with a fractured right heel after Saturday’s monstrous FP4 highside at Silverstone.
Despite immense pain in both feet across the remainder of the British Grand Prix weekend, the 32-year-old qualified sixth and raced to a heroic - and in his opinion disappointing - ninth place finish on Sunday before returning to Spain for further investigation.
Following medical checks carried out today at the Dexeus Hospital in Barcelona, Espargaro has been diagnosed with a heel fracture in his right foot.
The injury does not require surgical treatment, however, with seven days of absolute rest prescribed instead, during which he will have to use crutches in order not to strain his injured foot. The aim is to arrive to Austria in the best physical condition in just over a week’s time.
