MotoGP Silverstone: ‘Home win would mean everything’ - Lowes

Five weeks off from Moto2 and Marc VDS’ Sam Lowes is raring to get back in the mix for his home race at Silverstone this weekend.

Refreshed, recently married, and ready to resume racing action, Lowes is full of motivation and anticipation for this weekend’s British Grand Prix at the longest track on the World Championship calendar.

Having qualified on pole in both 2015 and 2016, the Brit is fired up and eager to demonstrate his best form in front of a home crowd who always turn up in their thousands to support the immensely popular 31-year-old.

Finishing fourth from the front row 12 months ago, Lowes now has his sights firmly set on a first Silverstone podium despite the tough and challenging circuit and after spending Wednesday navigating the rally school he’s ready to switch back to two wheels for the weekend ahead.

“It goes without saying that I’m really looking forward to Silverstone,” Lowes confirmed. “The home race is always very special, I’ve always had great support from the British fans, and I’m really determined to put on a good show for them.

“It would mean everything for me to fight for the win on Sunday in front of the British fans and that is my target.

“Silverstone is a very technical, fast, and flowing track and I know I can do a good job there. I can’t wait to get started again at Silverstone after a very positive summer break. I feel refreshed and can’t wait to get the season up and running again.”
