MotoGP support classes confirm 30-strong grids for 2022

The MotoGP paddock will field two 30-strong grids as Moto2 and Moto3 line up for 2022 next season.

With the deadline for team applications now passed, Dorna has released the list of official challengers in the MotoGP support classes for next season - though the full rider list is still to be announced.

Among the confirmed runners will be Michael Laverty’s new all-British VisionTrack Honda squad in Moto3, showcasing Scott Ogden and Josh Whatley, alongside Team MTA who will step up from their current Italian CIV and Junior World Championship commitments.

VR46 will have a double presence in Moto2 as the current Sky outfit - newly renamed Aramco VR46 Team - is joined by an all-new Yamaha VR46 Master Camp partnership. While the Avintia VR46 Riders Academy will also look to compete in Moto3.

Current big-hitters Red Bull KTM Ajo return once again to defend both championships with the Austrian manufacturer continuing to be represented by Tech3 in the lightweight class for a further term. Sam Lowes’ Elf Marc VDS, American Racing, and Gresini are amongst the title challengers for Moto2 as the new season approaches with, as yet, no news on Jake Dixon or John McPhee’s destinations.
