MotoGP Valencia: Difficulties leave Dixon playing catch up

Inde GasGas Aspar’s Jake Dixon endured a challenging Saturday as he qualified 15th at Valencia for the final Moto2 race of 2022.

Having completed Friday practice fourth overall in the combined times, Dixon continued his strong run in Saturday morning’s FP3 as the fifth and final rider in 1’34 pace.

Unfortunately, technical issues meant the Brit was unable to improve on his performance in the afternoon’s qualifying, with his 1’34.976 lap sitting him 15th and at the edge of the fifth row for Sunday’s finale.

“It wasn't a good day,” Dixon said dejectedly from Valencia. “I had a lot of difficulties with the bike.

“The position I got was not what I expected and it makes it difficult for us tomorrow.

“We need to make some technical changes to the bike and try to improve it. We'll see what we can do in the race and enjoy the last Grand Prix of the season.”
