MotoGP Valencia: Dixon rues ‘missed podium’ after lap two mistake

Jake Dixon recovered to seventh for the Inde GasGas Aspar squad in Valencia’s final Moto2 race of the season.

A difficult start from 15th on the grid saw Dixon fall back to 23rd as the action got going at Circuit Ricardo Tormo. Digging deep, the Brit went from strength to strength before settling in the top ten by lap eight.

Continuing his careful progression with impressive pace, Dixon eventually met the flag in seventh position for nine points, sealing the season sixth overall in the championship standings.

“It definitely wasn’t the race I was hoping for,” Dixon admitted after his early struggles. “On lap two I made a mistake that put me a lot of positions back and I lost a lot of seconds.

“I had to make up a lot of positions and in the end I was seventh. If it hadn’t been for this, we could have made it to the podium!”
