Speed Up rider Jorge Navarro secured a home Moto2 pole position ahead of rookie Jorge Martin and the MV Augusta of Stefano Manzi at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia.
The Spaniard and his Speed Up team mate Fabio Di Giannantonio both looked strong through free practice and it was the Italian who held the pole position early in the session, before crashing out of the session.
Despite the crash, Di Giannantonio continued to hold the top spot until the closing moments when Navarro went quicker than his team-mate. Unfortunately for the Italian, his lap wasn’t enough to even keep him on the front row.
Navarro’s 1:34.461 was just enough to hold onto the pole position by just 0.017 seconds from Martin. The MV Augusta of Manzi managed to secure a first front row start 0.155 seconds further back.
Luca Marini will start from fourth with Tom Luthi and Di Giannanotnio joining the Sky Racing rider on the second row. Brad Binder will head the third row in seventh with Augusto Fernandez and Enea Bastinini in eighth and ninth respectively.
Sam Lowes in his farewell race to Gresini will start from tenth with Xavi Vierge and Mattia Pasini joining the Brit on the fourth row.
