Mystery venue added to 2020 MotoGP calendar

MotoGP bosses have revealed that a 15th round will be added to the 2020 MotoGP calendar but have not named the venue.

Hot on the heels of bosses finally cancelling the Thai, Argentine and Malaysian races, an extra round has been installed on the schedule.

So far, we know only that it is in Europe and that it will happen on November 22 making it the season finale. It also means this year will be the first time since 1986 the whole series in raced in Europe.

Tracks that have the right sort of weather at that time of year include Istanbul in Turkey which was used from 2005 to 2007 and the Hungaroring, which is a bit hooky in terms of safety.

Misano and Jerez are also options while Portimao is probably the leading contender - but it’s a bit damp in November there due it being on the Atlantic coast not Mediterranean.

You can bet your wife it won’t be at the KymiRing.
