O'Halloran utilises BSB testing strategy change

McAMS Yamaha's Jason O'Halloran changed his strategy during the Monteblanco and Jerez Bennetts British Superbike tests to focus on what he needed for race wins this year instead of outright time attack laps.

The Australian, who is going into his second season with Steve Rodgers' team, has in the past gone all out to achieve the fastest possible time but that hasn't always produced results when it comes to race weekends.

“Everything went cool at the test - this year I just used it a little bit different to previous years and worked a little bit more on my riding style and things that were changing in testing to see how things did and didn’t work," said O'Halloran.

"To be honest I came away feeling quite positive and I know the timesheets didn’t look amazing, but we looked amazing on them last year and didn’t really get anything for it, so that wasn’t my focus this year. It was about getting comfortable and coming back to the UK with what we needed for racing.

“The new Yamaha is really good and I love the new R1, it has plenty of positives over the old bike and I can’t wait to get to work at Silverstone for the next test to see where we end up. I am excited about the new year, the new season and feel like we are in a strong place so I am looking forward to the first race.”
