Oulton BSB: Jackson's strong pace continues with another podium

One of only four riders to have scored points in every round so far of the 2020 Bennetts British Superbike Championship, Lee Jackson’s season continued to go from strength to strength at the weekend as the Rapid Fulfillment Kawasaki rider took three top six finishes at Oulton Park, including third in the final race.

It was only the second time the 24-year old has graced a BSB podium, having finished second to James Ellison at Cadwell Park in 2017, but his pace this year has been impressive at each round.

At Oulton, he ran in the lead group in every race and, after taking fifth and sixth in the first two races, he saved the best until last with an opportunistic manoeuvre on Jason O’Halloran on the run in to the line.

The ride was particularly impressive as it looked like the leading trio of O’Halloran, Josh Brookes and Christian Iddon had begun to drop him with four laps of the race remaining.

However, the Lincolnshire rider responded to get back onto O’Halloran’s rear wheel and, with better drive out of Lodge, got the verdict as they flashed across the line.

“The season’s gone really well so far and we’ve been making improvements to the bike all year and again this weekend," he later said. “In the first couple of races, I was pleased with my pace but when I was in a group, I wasn’t able to run my own lines which compromised me a bit so we made some small changes again for the last race.”

“They definitely worked and I felt strong sitting in fourth but I wasn’t sure if or where I could make a pass. Jason had to roll off a bit at Lodge so I took a look at the outside and was more than happy to snatch third at the line.”
