OMG Suzuki’s Luke Mossey says he knew the package he would have under him for the 2019 Bennetts British Superbike season would be a race winner from his first outing in Spanish testing.
And so it proved last time out at Silverstone when team-mate Josh Elliott stood on the podium twice. Now Mossey is lining up his own assault on the top step after two thin years in the series which involved a brace of big crashes.
“We went to Spain and I knew the bike was going to be a race winner this season, I felt happy being back with my old crew and felt instantly at home on the Suzuki,” said the Royston rider.
“It is only the second year for the team in the Superbike class so it has been a great start and I am really excited about the year ahead and what we can achieve.
“If I am honest nothing went right last year so this has been the start we needed and hopefully it will be my turn soon on the box, as Josh did a great job at Silverstone.
“I am learning every time I am on the bike and it is exactly what I need so I am really looking forward to this weekend.
I think at Silverstone every one really got stuck in because it is such a short lap, and I think some people did get a bit carried away but that’s the nature of that track.
“Oulton Park is going to be a different story; that is a track that definitely needs more of a strategy and I am feeling confident.
“We weren’t that far off at Silverstone and we have a good direction after the test, so I would like to get that first podium of the season for sure this weekend.
“I am aiming for nothing less than the top five each weekend and that should put us in a position ready for the Showdown.”
