Oulton BSB: 'No excuses' as Mackenzie scrapes into top 15

McAMS Yamaha’s Tarran Mackenzie is offering no excuses after the opening day of Bennetts British Superbike free practice which saw him end 15th on the timesheet and the business end of three seconds adrift of Josh Brookes.

The young Scotsman is hoping to seal a place in the 2019 Showdown this weekend and after struggling in the first session, Mackenzie got closer to the top ten this afternoon but says it’s not close enough even after finding a second over lunch.

“It’s not been the easiest day. My wrist is perfectly fine now which is good - I have no excuses, but we struggled a bit this morning so we went back to a similar setting to what we had back here earlier this year,” said Mackenzie.

“We got a bit closer but not close enough, so we need to sit down tonight, go over the data and see where both I can improve and we can improve the bike. Fingers crossed we can have a stronger FP3 and take that into qualifying and the race.”
