Your pick of the best stats and facts ahead of the first Bennetts British Superbike Championship Showdown weekend at Oulton Park

Oulton Park has held at least one round of the British Superbike Championship every year since 1996, a total of 108 races.

The 108 races have seen 32 different race winners and 46 different riders stand on the podium – both of these figures are the highest for any BSB circuit (the latter is joint highest with the Brands Hatch GP circuit).

First held in 2010, this is the 11th time the Showdown has taken place.

On just four of the previous ten occasions has the rider leading the Championship going into the Showdown become BSB Champion – Shane Byrne (2014 and 2017), Josh Brookes (2015) and Leon Haslam (2018).

This weekend will be just the fourth time Oulton Park has held a round as part of the Showdown, the previous years being 2010, 2017 and 2018.

2021 will be Josh Brookes’ tenth appearance in the Showdown, three more than any other rider (Shane Byrne with seven).

Seven out of the eight riders in this year’s Showdown have previously been part of the final three-round format – Josh Brookes (9 previous occasions), Tommy Bridewell (4), Peter Hickman (3), Jason O’Halloran (2), and Danny Buchan, Tarran Mackenzie and Glenn Irwin (all 1).

Christian Iddon is the only debutante in this year’s Showdown.

Out of the eight Showdown contenders, only three have previously won BSB races at Oulton – Josh Brookes (8), Jason O’Halloran (5) and Tommy Bridewell (2).

Jason O’Halloran and Yamaha have won five out of the last six BSB races to take place at Oulton Park.

Tarran Mackenzie has never finished on a BSB podium at Oulton Park.

Kyle Ryde will make his 50th BSB start in race two at Oulton Park this weekend.

Rory Skinner is set to make his 25th BSB race start in the opening race of the weekend at Oulton Park.

Ryuichi Kiyonari is the most successful rider at Oulton Park with 12 wins followed by Shane Byrne (11), Leon Haslam (9), Josh Brookes (8), Steve Hislop (both 7), John Reynolds, Tommy Hill and Jason O’Halloran (all 5) and Leon Camier (4).

Double race wins (or three) have been taken at Oulton Park on 22 occasions – Troy Bayliss (1999), Steve Hislop (2001), Shane Byrne (2003, 2008 and 2015), Yukio Kagayama (2004), John Reynolds (2004), Ryuichi Kiyonari (2005, 2006, 2010 and 2014), Gregorio Lavilla (2006), Leon Haslam (2007, 2016 and 2018), Tom Sykes (2008), Leon Camier (2009), Tommy Hill (2012), Jake Dixon (2018), Josh Brookes (2019) and Jason O”Halloran (2020 and 2021)

Shane Byrne has taken the most podiums at Oulton Park with 33 followed by Josh Brookes (28), John Reynolds (23), Leon Haslam (19), Michael Rutter (15), Ryuichi Kiyonari and James Ellison (both 14), Steve Hislop (12), Tommy Hill and Tommy Bridewell (both 11) and Chris Walker (10).

Josh Brookes (28) and Tommy Bridewell (11) have finished on the podium more times at Oulton Park than at any other BSB circuit. Christian Iddon’s tally of 8 podiums is his equal best with the Brands Hatch GP circuit.

Dan Linfoot, Danny Buchan and Bradley Ray took their first ever BSB podiums at Oulton Park in 2014, 2015 and 2017 respectively.

Twelfth place in the opening race at Silverstone two weeks ago was Ryo Mizuno’s best finish of the 2021 BSB season.

Ducati are the most successful manufacturer at Oulton with 33 wins followed by Yamaha (24), Honda and Kawasaki (both 18), Suzuki (11) and BMW (4).

Ducati’s last wins came in September last year when Josh Brookes won the third race.

Kawasaki’s last win was in 2018 with Jake Dixon.

BMW’s last win at Oulton came in 2016 with Richard Cooper.

Suzuki’s last victory at Oulton was in 2013, also with Brookes.
