Update: rain showers at Oulton mean most teams have called it a day
Be Wiser Ducati’s Josh Brookes has marmalised the Bennetts British Superbike pack over the opening two test sessions at Oulton Park.
The 2015 champion is 1.067s ahead of Danny Buchan FS-3 Kawasaki in second place after posting the only lap so far under the 1’35s bracket - a 1’34.929 – just before the heavens opened.
Buchan, after stepping on to the podium at Silverstone, put in a best of 1’35.996 to stay ahead of the charging Tommy Bridewell.
The Oxford Ducati rider is only 0.014s behind Buchan and has a slender lead of 0.005s over Tyco BMW’s Christian Iddon.
Peter Hickman, on the Smiths BMW, is in fifth on a 1’37.017 while Luke Stapleford leads the Buildbase Suzuki charge in sixth.
Luke Mossey stuck his OMG Suzuki in seventh with Tarran Mackenzie, Glenn Irwin and Dan Linfoot completing the top ten.
Scott Redding is getting his first taste of the Cheshire circuit and finished in 12th place, two second down on Brookes. Keith Farmer is just ahead while Ryan Vickers, Dean Harrison and Josh Elliott round out the top 15.
McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran is in 25th after a small crash.
