Josh Owens will make his Bennetts British Superbike debut at Oulton Park this weekend, joining Dean Hipwell’s CDH Racing for the triple-header event.
The team debuted in the premier class this season but after being sidelined with Gilbert Syndrome, which has left Hipwell lacking the energy required to race, he decided to draft in last year’s British GP2 Championship title-winner.
Liverpool-based Owens will debut for the team in free practice on Friday, after claiming three podium finishes this season in the British GP2 Championship.
“I would like to thank Dean for giving me the opportunity to ride his bike at Oulton Park. Obviously my goal as a rider is to try and make a career on a Superbike and if that's possible this is the first step towards that," said Owens.
"I understand I’m not going to be a front runner but I’ll be happy to qualify and I’ll walk away satisfied with that, then just keep learning each time I go out on track. I would like to say a massive thank you to my sponsors for giving me these opportunities.”
