Petronas MotoGP boss still waiting for approach from Rossi

Petronas Yamaha MotoGP boss Razlan Razali is still waiting for a meeting with nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi about the 2021 season.

The Doctor has lost his works team place to current Petronas rider Fabio Quartararo next season but Razali is open to doing a straight swap and is keeping a space open for Rossi until August.

“We are looking to a different options to replace Fabio. Valentino is one of them, it’s an interesting proposal, but we need to know the details," Razali told bikesportnews.com.

"Valentino is a tremendously talented and experienced rider who would be an asset to any team. We all know that he arrived in an agreement with Yamaha, but we haven’t had at all any approach / meeting about it yet with him.

We are keeping it open for him. I think we will have to take a final decision by July or August.”

Rossi said earlier this week that he prefer to not retire at the end of 2020 as he wants to finish on a full season.

Yamaha has already stated it will provide him with a factory M1 should he decide to continue.
