Be Wiser Ducati’s Scott Redding ended the official Portimao test in second place overall after focusing on race simulations on day two.
The former MotoGP star said he only went for one time-attack in the middle of the day after working hard on race pace in the Portugese sunshine.
“Really happy with the job that we did over the two days. Today I worked on race runs with two race simulations with one go at a time attack to get a feeling for it,” said Redding, speaking from a layby.
“That was in the middle of the day when the track was hot and greasy, so I am happy with that. The race runs went well, it was interesting for me to see understand the Pirelli tyres for this.
“Overall, we have had three days in Monteblanco, two in Portimao and I feel good. I feel really happy on the bike, really good with the team and I can’t wait to get out at Silverstone.”
Redding’s afternoon run saw him put in nine laps in the 1’44s, three 1’45s and two 1’46s while the morning simulation comprised two 1’43s, three 1’44s and ten 1’45s.
