Next season's MotoGP action will kick off in Europe as Portugal’s Autodromo Internacional do Algarve hosts 2023's opening round.

With the traditional season opener in Qatar off the Grand Prix calendar due to circuit works, recent addition Portimao steps into the breach marking the first time MotoGP has begun in Europe since 2006.

The full, provisional 2023 MotoGP calendar is still to be announced by the FIM, but the first event has been confirmed with Portugal’s inaugural action heralding only the third season opener held in Europe in more than three decades.

Official pre-season tests are also set to be held at Portimao during the weeks before the event, with dates tbc.
