Power delivery the focus for Aprilia's MotoGP effort

Aprilia MotoGP boss Romano Albesiano has revealed the main focus of their development is to improve power delivery from the RS-GP.

Both Scott Redding and Aleix Espargaro have struggled with corner exit grip, so the Italian says this is what they will work on going forwards, along with mapping and chassis improvements.

"To improve the bike, the main priority is to control the torque of the engine in the first part of delivery as it affects the traction of the rear tyre," said Albesiano.

"To do this, we are working a lot on the dynamic test bench for the strategies of engine control but one ket point we found was the intertia of the rotating parts of the engine, mainly the crankshaft.

"When the rider start opening the gas at 60° of lean, the power delivery must be absolutely smooth and this is one part we lack at the moment.

"We are working on a new chassis, the development never stops, the carbon swingarm of which we have made three versions but it still needs some confirm."
