Qatar MotoGP test: Ducati using 'aerospace engineers' to find an advantage

Works Ducati MotoGP team boss Davide Tardozzi has admitted the factory is using aerospace engineers in order to gain advantages while engine development is frozen in 2021.

Test rider Michele Pirro was the first on track with the new aero package - part of which takes air from a fairing on the front wheel - before Jack Miller and Pecco Bagnaia used it over Saturday and Sunday.

“We have as you saw yesterday, a new fairing while we have a adjustments, a few option on the chassis setup and this is the main goal of those three days,” said Tardozzi, speaking at the track.

“We have even aerospace engineers so so maybe come from there but obviously I’m not the right person to answer to this question, but I think that on average our family group is working very hard and they are really looking forward to using it in the future and we are always pretty happy to show you things.”

Miller was pleased with the performance, saying: “I’m pleased with these first two days of testing with my new team. Today I lapped mainly with the new fairing, the sensations are very positive, and the bike seems more stable. Despite the regulation restrictions, the team has done a fantastic job over the winter.”
