Ralf Waldmann has died

Former MotoGP star and 20-time grand prix race winner Ralf Waldmann has died.

The German, who was latterly involved with Eurosport, is thought to have suffered a heart attack yesterday afternoon at just the age of 51.

Alongside Anton Mang, Mr Waldmann was recognised as one of the best-ever German racers and was best known for his win at Donington Park when he gambled on wets in 2000, ended up lapping 12 faster than leader Olivier Jacque and took victory on the exit of Goddards on the last lap.
