Reiterberger to stand in for Alex Olsen at Donington BSB

Former BMW WorldSBK star Markus Reiterberger will stand in for the injured Alex Olsen at next weekend’s Donington Bennetts British Superbike round.

Reiterberger has proven to be a fierce contender during his career in domestic Superbike action, winning the IDM Superbike Championship in his native Germany in 2013 and 2015.

The 26-year-old already has a strong association with BMW, celebrating title victory in the FIM European Superstock 1000 Champion in 2018, with four victories and two third places on the alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW.

“I am happy to get the chance to compete for the Global Robots BMW team with Peter Hickman, in the British Superbike Championship races in Donington Park,” said Reiterberger.

“The level in BSB is really high, especially because the bikes have little electronic support, for example no traction and wheelie control, which will be new for me.

“Thanks to the incredible support of alpha Racing I will be able to attend the event with two experienced staff members, my new crew chief and my long time suspension expert and I will get the chance to showcase myself in another top-class championship.

“My expectations are quite high, even if I know that I shouldn’t set them too high due to the lack of preparation time.

“We’ll see how it turns out - I’ll try to put on a good show and I’m really looking forward to the weekend with the Global Robots BMW team at Donington Park.”
