Right direction for Rea after Le Mans EWC test

Gino Rea completed two days of testing at Le Mans this week ahead of the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship.

The F.C.C. TSR Honda France rider joined his factory teammates Mike Di Meglio and Josh Hook at the infamous Bugatti Circuit as 48 teams lined up in preparation for the 24 Heures Motos, set for Easter weekend, in a fortnight’s time.

After two days of action, Rea claimed the fourth fastest lap around the 4.2km layout, with his 1’36.222 effort, half a second away from YART Yamaha’s official entry.

Having collected valuable data regarding electronics, chassis and tyre settings with very consistent laps and good race pace, the trio endured mixed weather conditions as it prepared for the traditionally inclement race. The opening action saw the Honda team second in the standings before closing not to run until Wednesday’s conditions had improved, rounding out the test fourth.

“It has been a very positive test,” Rea explained from France. “Yesterday we did a lot of positive work on electronics, the chassis and tyre setting with different compounds for different conditions and got into work with the whole team.

"We are trying to do a consistent pace that is really good for us, and our race pace is very good. We are going in the right direction with the bike and looking forward to the race.”
