Rossi calls for top-speed deficit to be halved by Yamaha

Monster Yamaha's Valentino Rossi needs the massive top-speed gap between his M1 and the Ducati and Yamaha MotoGP contenders at least halved for next season.

At some races this year, Rossi and team-mate Maverick Vinales have been upwards of 15km/h slower than Marc Marquez and Andrea Dovizioso, which is a lot to make up under braking and corner exit, especially when you have a bike the struggles on worn tyres.

"We have improved, but we are still a long way off. We are seven to eight seconds in races, the other bikes do 12km/h more on the straight. We will not be strong like Ducati on the straight, but we must work to at least halve the gap," said Rossi.

It is thought Yamaha might bring a carbon swingarm to Misano tomorrow in an effort to help with the M1's tyre wear problem, which was evident for Rossi at Silverstone.

“I ask many times, and I think and I hope the carbon swingarm can help us. So I hope Yamaha can bring it as soon as possible. We don’t have a very clear situation, but I hope and I think it won’t be long before we see it.”
