Rouse 'getting serious' in his bid for Triumph glory

Chrissy Rouse will try to continue his winning streak and extend his championship lead at round seven of the Triumph Triple Challenge at Donington Park's MCE British Superbike round.

The Stratstone Triumph Racing rider is determined to boost his points tally and remain in command of the championship as the 2013 season reaches a crucial point. The 17-year-old currently leads the title chase by 58 points over Freddy Pett and with just two more rounds to go after this one, he says every point is now vital.

“It’s time to get serious, I’ve got this nice lead but now I have to work to keep it as big as possible. I just want to get there, get two good results and put myself in a strong position for when we go to Silverstone next month," said Rouse.

“My aim this weekend is to get the best two results possible and ideally leave Donington Park with a lead greater than 100 points.”

The Geordie teenager believes this weekend’s two races will be tough, but he is determined to bring home as many points as possible.

“It’s looking like it could be wet at least for part of the weekend, and I think we’ll just have to take it as it comes.

I’m confident that we have a good set-up and I do like Donington Park – it was there where I won the Superteen championship in 2011.

“It’s not going to be an easy weekend though. I know I need to bring home as many points as I can to put me in a good position championship-wise, but I think there could be some strong competition this weekend so I think we’re set for two very busy and exciting races.”
