Sepang MotoGP test: 'Electronics' work needed for Quartararo

Sepang MotoGP test fastest man Fabio Quartararo set the pace at Sepang for all three days but says he needs to work on almost all areas of the 2020 Petronas Yamaha M1 with special attention being paid to electronics.

Quartararo displayed devastating one-lap pace - only a tenth outside the outright lap record - and also managed 19 sub 2'00 laps out of a total of 57 on a bike he is not yet at home using.

"I am not feeling 100 percent comfortable with the bike so we need to work and understand why, also check the data with the factory," said Quartararo, speaking at the track.

"It's not really one problem, it's overall of everything, braking area, electronics, the drive, the grip, a little bit of everything. It is quite difficult but with the team we'll analyse.

"Really happy because we make the long run in 55 degrees on the track, was the worst of the two days and we manage to get into the 1'59s, 2'00s really lows so quite happy about the pace of today.

"It is the first long run that we do with the bike, we need to work with the electronics. Really not easy, but we still have one more test before the race."

"Last year we saw that the problem was the top speed. We see with factory, we are still really far from top speed which is something we need to check in Qatar. But yes, I think we can already win some tenths."
