Showdown consolidation the target for 'chilled' Buchan

FS-3 Kawasaki's Danny Buchan picked up his maiden Bennetts British Superbike win at Knockhill and is now targeting a solid place the Showdown top-six and gaining some more vital podium credits.

Buchan, who is as laid back as you can get without banging the back of your head, is putting himself under no pressure to repeat the Scottish feat but is keen to increase his gap over sixth-placed man Xavi Fores who is currently 20 points behind.

“To get the first win is massive and it is so good for the championship as we are closing down on the Showdown now and the Podium Points are the most important and I have increased the gap to seventh in the standings by quite a lot," said Buchan.

The first win for the team was massive but now I am completely focused on Snetterton. I just want to get there and go better than I did at Knockhill. I have never really thought about winning BSB races until Shane Byrne said at the start of the year, 'Danny should really start winning races now, as he is at that point of his career'.

"I thought that is so true, I need to win a race, I need to be there. It is nice to be now, not Danny Buchan he could be the race winner, I am Danny Buchan the race winner which is massive for me."

"Now I have won a race now and my next target is to be in the Showdown as I have not been in before. There is no reason why we can’t do it, Snetterton should be a good race for us, as it was really good in 2018 and the bike is better this year so I am looking forward to getting there

“I am quite chilled about Snetterton, I am really relaxed about every race now, the target is two top fives but if there is a podium there that would obviously be amazing and a win would be incredible. I just need to stay out of trouble because at this point of the year some people try to prove a point, so we just need to stay focused on that Showdown.”
