Danny Buchan has praised his FS-3 Racing Kawasaki team after he powered to third place in the second Bennetts British Superbike Championship race at Silverstone.
Buchan was back on the box for the first time since Knockhill last June as he came through from seventh on the grid to secure the final podium spot in race two.
The result followed a tricky start to the day after he made a mistake in the opening race and dropped back, which forced him to spend the rest of the race fighting his way back up, eventually finishing ninth.
But he more than made up for it in the second scrap as he got a good start from seventh on the grid and quickly carved his way through the field to move into third on lap six, holding it all the way to the flag.
“It’s been really good, after FP3 I had really good pace,” he said. “Coming from 14th on the grid for race one was always going to be hard and I made a small mistake and dropped back to 25th or something and just had to try and fight my way back.
The team has given me everything I need to have a race winning package, it’s just the person sat on it that needs to pull their finger out now.
“To come away with third in the second race was good. Starting higher up in seventh place just made the job a little easier. I was so close to Tarran and Josh, but just a bit too far away.”
And while he may have just missed out on fighting for the win, the two-time Superstock 1000 champion added that he’s very happy with the improvements made since last season.
“Last year here I couldn’t even get in the top 12 so the steps we’ve made here are really positive. Oulton Park and the likes of those circuits are my favourites so I can’t wait to get there.”
