OMG Suzuki’s Josh Elliott has been awarded his maiden Bennetts British Superbike victory after initial race one winner Tarran Mackenzie was slapped with a time penalty.
The McAMS Yamaha rider took victory over the line after knocking team-mate and race-long leader Jason O’Halloran onto the deck, but race direction handed the Scotsman a three second penalty.
A statement from BSB bosses reads:
“Long Lap equivalent time penalty of 3 seconds imposed on 95 (Tarran Mackenzie) for contact causing 22 (Jason O’Halloran) to crash at Turn 6 on Lap 30.”
The ruling means Mackenzie takes second while Be Wiser Ducati’s Scott Redding maintains third.
