Rory Skinner’s domination of the 2020 Quattro British Supersport Championship continued at Silverstone on Sunday afternoon as he took his sixth win from six starts to maintain his 100 per cent record.

 
The Tysers Yamaha rider was never headed and came home almost seven seconds clear of team-mate Brad Jones with Harry Truelove (Truelove Brothers Racing Yamaha) in third after a tremendous battle saw no less than six riders dispute the final podium positions.
 
It was Skinner who grabbed the holeshot, immediately opening up a half second advantage at the end of the first lap with Ben Currie (Gearlink Kawasaki) in second and Jamie Perrin again going great guns on his 2016-spec R6 Yamaha in third.
 
The lead had doubled by lap three and it was on this lap that Ross Patterson and GP2 Cup leader Jack Nixon crashed out. No sooner had they done so when fellow GP2 Cup riders Mason Law and Jorel Boerboom also crashed out along with Scott Swann.
 
That brought out the safety car for a period of five laps and when racing resumed, Skinner immediately looked to reassert his authority. As he did so, Jones moved up to second at Copse to push Currie back to third.
 
The next two laps saw the Australian pushed back to fifth as Perrin and Lee Johnston (Ashcourt Racing Yamaha) also moved ahead, Perrin setting a new lap record of 55.727s but all the time Skinner was pulling clear, his lead after 11 laps up to 1.2s.
 
By half race distance, it had crept up to 1.8s and Johnston was now up to second from Perrin, Jones and Currie with just 0.8s covering the quartet. Charlie Nesbitt was leading the GP2 Cup runners but luck deserted him on lap 14 as he was forced to retire.
 
Skinner was again in a class of his own though and he stretched his lead by more than half a second on every lap, the gap to second place almost four seconds by the time two thirds race distance had been reached.
 
He eventually won by 6.7s but the six-rider battle for second continued all the way to the chequered flag with positions changing all the time but Johnston was unable to repeat his runners-up spot from Saturday as he was forced out on the penultimate lap.
 
The expected last lap dust up went to the last corner and it was Jones who got the verdict from Truelove and Perrin with just 0.118s covering the trio as they flashed across the line.
 
Currie took fifth, one place and 0.07s ahead of Tom Oliver who took his first ever British Championship win and first GP2 Cup victory of the season on the Nova Go Racing Chassis Factory machine.
 
Bradley Perie (Diamond H Racing Yamaha) finished in seventh with Cameron Horsman, Alastair Seeley and James Westmoreland completing the top ten, Horsman and Seeley taking second and third in the GP2 Cup category.
 
Skinner’s sixth win saw him move on to 150 points, a whopping 66 clear of Westmoreland.
