Silverstone BSB: Suzuki's Ryde takes charge in second practice

Buildbase Suzuki’s Kyle Ryde has taken up where team-mate Gino Rea left off yesterday, setting the pace in this morning’s second Bennetts British Superbike free practice.

The youngster was almost a second inside the current lap record with a 53.273 and three-tenths ahead of Jason O’Halloran who shot into second with his final lap.

VisionTrack Ducati’s Josh Brookes finished in third and only 0.007s slower than his countryman while Danny Buchan found a big pile of pace overnight to set a 53.596.

Luke Mossey was the first BMW home on his Rich Energy S1000RR , just over three-tenths down on Ryde with Rea 0.096s further back but proving yesterday’s pace was no fluke.

Joe Francis put his Bowker BMW into seventh, one ahead of Peter Hickman’s Global Robots S1000RR as the Louth rider set a 53.733.

Bradley Ray’s Synetiq BMW was ninth and still inside the lap record while series leader Glenn Irwin completed the top ten on a 53.749.

Lee Jackson, Andrew Irwin, Tarran Mackenzie, Christian Iddon and Hector Barbera rounded out the top 15.

Tommy Bridewell ended in 17th and 0.772s off the pace after getting a warning for ignoring a meatball flag.
