Snetterton BSB: Race weekend stats, facts and pub ammo

Your routine round-up of stats* and facts for your delectation ahead of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship visit to Snetterton.

This is the first time Yamaha have led the BSB Championship with five rounds of the Championship remaining since 2015 when Josh Brookes led the series. The Australian went on to win the title that year.

Tommy Bridewell’s three podiums at Cadwell Park saw him move on to a career total of 51 and become just the 14th rider in BSB history to record more than 50 podiums.

Bridewell is now 13th on the all-time list of podium finishers, one ahead of Niall Mackenzie and nine ahead of the 15th ranked rider, Jason O’Halloran.

Peter Hickman’s three podiums at Cadwell Park moved him on to a career total of 21, the same number as Glenn Irwin.

Exactly two-thirds of Hickman’s 21 career BSB podiums have come at Cadwell Park and Thruxton.

His two victories at Cadwell Park moved him on to a career total of 6, the same number as Terry Rymer.

Neither Hickman nor fellow Showdown contender Danny Buchan have ever taken a BSB podium at Snetterton.

Jason O’Halloran took his first ever BSB podium (in 2015) and first ever BSB victory (in 2016) at Snetterton.

Christian Iddon also claimed his first ever BSB win at the Snetterton circuit, victory coming in the first race in 2020.

Andrew Irwin made his BSB debut at Snetterton three years ago.

Jason O’Halloran is set to make his 175th BSB start in the third race at Snetterton this weekend.

The Snetterton 300 circuit was first used for BSB in 2011. At 2.9689 miles, it is the longest track on the 2021 BSB calendar.

The current lap record is held by Shane Byrne (Ducati), who lapped at 1m47.143s in the second race of 2017.

Out of this year’s entry, only Josh Brookes (2010 & 2020), Jason O’Halloran (2016) and Christian Iddon and Glenn Irwin (both 2020) have previously won BSB races at Snetterton.

Irwin’s victory last year was his first and, to date, only BSB victory for Honda.
