Snetterton BSB: Series lead means nothing right now - Redding

Be Wiser Ducati’s Scott Redding goes into this weekend’s Bennetts British Superbike round as the championship leader but he says it means nothing until the Showdown is locked in and the podium points are calculated.

Redding, who is still technically a rookie in the championship, passed fellow Ducati rider Tommy Bridewell at the top of the points table at Knockhill but only has a four point lead.

However, the Gloucestershire rider has 25 podium points compared to Bridewell’s 13 while Josh Brookes has 20.

“It means nothing to be leading the series at this stage of the season, it’s all about picking up as many Podium Points as possible as that will be very important come the Showdown,” said Redding.

The plan as always is to challenge for the podium and if the win is possible, then I’ll go for it.”

“I did a few laps on a road bike a few weeks ago and I like the track and the layout which should suit both me and the bike so I’m excited to get going this weekend. Hopefully, we can have some good weather and I can get some decent track time to help me get up to speed quickly.”
