Quattro Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin rolls into this weekend’s Bennetts British Superbike round after a bout of tonsillitis but is determined to make this weekend and every subsequent one until the Showdown cut-off count.
The Carrickfergus rider has a 57-point deficit to sixth-placed man Xavi Fores in the championship table and although not insurmountable, it’s a chunk to pull back unless the Spaniard fails to finish at least one race.
“I’ve been suffering with a virus recently but I’m hoping to be fit and well in time for this weekend. With only four rounds left until the Showdown we need to make every round count.
“Getting on the podium at Snetterton was a turning point for me last season and I’m hoping I can do just as well on the Kawasaki.”
