Thruxton BSB: Barbera fractures leg in practice crash

Spaniard Hector Barbera has sustained a break to his leg in a heavy crash during this afternoon's second Bennetts British Superbike free practice session.

The Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider, who was announced as a stand-in for the outgoing - and now Tyco BMW man - Glenn Irwin, binned his ZX-10RR at Allard on just his 10th lap of FP2 and was carted off to the medical centre under red flags.

BSB chiefs issued a medical updated that confirmed Barbera had fractured his right fibula, stating that his fitness would be reviewed tomorrow before final practice.
