Be Wiser Ducati’s Josh Brookes will be going all out for a brace of wins at his most successful Bennetts British Superbike circuit this weekend as podiums aren’t enough.

Brookes has taken eight victories at Thruxton on a variety of machinery and is intent on adding to that tally after being disappointed with a brace of podiums at Snetterton and closing in on championship second.

“I always enjoy racing at Thruxton and over the years, I’ve had some great results there. Redding & BrookesI don’t know if I like the place because I get good results, or I get good results because I like the place,” said Brookes.

“It’s unique and you have to conserve your tyres so it’s all about managing your pace throughout the race.

I should have been happy with a double podium at Snetterton but I’m not so the plan this weekend is to get two more wins under my belt to score some more important podium points as the Showdown is only a couple of rounds away after this weekend.”

Brookes is second only to team-mate Scott Redding in the podium credit chase. Brookes has 26 while Redding is on 35. Tarran Mackenzie is next on 15 with Tommy Bridewell on 14.

Team co-ordinator Johnny Mowatt is expecting good things from Brookes this weekend but knows the hard work of securing two spots in the Showdown begins in Hampshire.

“Josh has a brilliant record around Thruxton so will be determined to get back to winning ways. It’s a great position to be in to have won all but three races in the first half of the season but the hard work to get the riders into the Showdown really starts here,” he said.
