TT 2022: Senior race delayed due to conditions

Update: The Senior will be run over six laps tomorrow, 1pm start.

A combination of an incident in today’s Sidecar race at the Isle of Man TT races and high winds and rain/mist moving in from the west of the island resulted in the Senior TT being delayed.

The blue riband Senior race, to be held over four laps, was due to start at 2.15pm but an incident at Ago’s Leap on the second lap of the second Sidecar race resulted in a lengthy stoppage as organisers dealt with the situation.

The Senior race was subsequently pushed back to a 4.15pm start but, by then, the blue skies had clouded over considerably and with rain falling on the west part of the course, which left the roads from Ballacraine onwards wet, and the winds over the Mountain continuing to cause problems, the organisers announced no more racing would take place on Friday.

Discussions are currently taking place with regards to the possibility of the Senior TT taking place on Saturday although a lack of marshals – with many already booked on ferries and flights home – may ultimately prove to be the deciding factor.
