Valencia MotoGP test: Marquez focusing on RCV behaviour

MotoGP new-boy Alex Marquez spent the second day of MotoGP testing at Valencia trying to expand his understanding of how the Honda RC213V behaves on used tyres.

The reigning Moto2 king managed to cut his laptime to a 1'32.235 to finish 2.4s behind Maverick Vinales and in front of fellow rookie Brad Binder with veteran and Aprilia test rider Bradley Smith in the middle.

I’m quite happy with how the test went, lap by lap we are understanding the bike more and more. I did a lot of laps today so physically I am a little tired because I’m still a bit stiff on the bike but this will improve with more laps," said Marquez.

"We did a lot on used tyres to improve our pace and learn the behaviour more. Of course, we still need to improve more and work on some things, but I am satisfied with what we have done today and in this test.

"Now we go to Jerez, I’m looking forward to being on the bike again after really enjoying the bike."

Brother Marc rode with Alex for one lap at Valencia yesterday and said he seemed to be doing OK but struggling on corner entry.

"I did one lap behind him and he is riding not so bad. At the moment he is struggling with the most difficult part of the bike, the last part on the brakes.

"Is there where I crash many times, Cal crash many times. It takes times of course but apart from that he is working his way."
