Maverick Vinale could be in the frame for a switch to Ducati in 2021 after technical chief Gigi Dall'Igna hinted he is being kept under scrutiny by the Bologna factory.
Vinales, like almost every other rider, will be out of contract at the end of next season and a move away from Yamaha could be the answer to his title hopes should the Iwata factory not come up with the goods in terms of a championhip-challenging bike next year.
"He is one of the riders who has managed to beat Marquez," said Dall'Igna. "We are evaluating what could be the best solution. But it does not depend only on us."
Vinales is riding against his natural style on the Yamaha and has said in the past he would be better suited to something else that requires a more stop-go way of cornering.
