The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic may have severely affected the racing calendars in 2020 but when the racing did get underway, there was plenty to enjoy.
From Joan Mir’s superb MotoGP World Championship success to Jonathan Rea’s march towards a sixth successive World Superbike Championship, and from Sam Lowes’ challenge for Moto 2 glory to Josh Brookes’s British Superbike Championship success, the racing was fierce with achievements to be celebrated.
Enea Bastianini and Albert Arenas clinched their Moto 2 and Moto 3 World titles at the last time of asking whilst Andrea Locatelli and Rory Skinner dominated the World and British Supersport Championships, respectively, in a manner never seen before.
The championship winners ultimately took the plaudits but the supporting cast, as always, played a huge part and enjoyed their own individual success, the likes of Scott Redding, Chaz Davies and Jason O’Halloran all having seasons to be proud of.
You can’t, of course, forget the dominance of Cameron Beaubier in MotoAmerica as he scooped up his fifth MotoAmerica Superbike title before signing a Moto2 deal.
